Support for Mine Action

In 2014, France contributed €940,785 (US$1.3 million)[1] in mine action funding, 40% less than in 2013 when its contribution totaled just over $2 million.

France’s largest contribution went to Handicap International for clearance and risk education activities in Lao PDR and Lebanon, representing 80% of its total support in 2014.

Since 2003, France has provided training to the West African Humanitarian Mine Action Training Center based in the Benin (Centre de perfectionnement aux actions post conflictuelles de déminage et de dépollution, CPADD). In 2014, France contributed €70,785 ($94,123) to support training, and provided demining experts and logistical support to the CPADD (valued at €475,000/$631,608).

Support for advocacy activities included contributions to the Mine Ban Treaty and the Convention on Cluster Munitions Implementation Support Units, as well as several NGOs.

From 2010–2014, France’s contribution for mine action totaled more than €7.7 million ($10.2 million), with an annual contribution averaging €1.5 million ($2 million).
